  • Duration: Typically includes one term off from class plus summer, or a longer-term co-op assignment that can include rotations in school and at work, with some flexibility in scheduling specifics.

Responsibilities

This is a role well suited for a highly motivated student looking to build their skill set and gain hands-on experience. As a Software Engineering Co-op, you will be responsible for:

  • May be involved in all aspects of embedded systems development, including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing and documentation of the motion control and detector subsystems for molecular imaging cameras.  Includes safety critical motions, and mitigations to prevent accidents across multiple axes of motion
  • Will be expected to write and test embedded software, execute written test procedures, document results, and to recognize/isolate system anomalies.
  • Tasks include writing code (C/C++) for embedded systems, troubleshooting, testing, and documentation of results. Coop will work with firmware and electrical engineers for the motion control and detector subsystems, and assist with development and test.
  • Provide support for system host emulator, as well as assist in the loading of software in the lab.
  • Coop will also help address issues arising from the Defect Handling Board, and may be asked to help out with certain administrative tasks.
  • The purpose of this internship is to support the development and test of medical applications focused on molecular imaging (SPECT)

Job Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program, majoring in Electrical Engineer, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar program of study (minimum rising junior preferred)
  • Minimum 3.2 GPA (preferred)
