Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer I develops and improves manufacturing processes by studying products and manufacturing methods. They provide premier engineering and manufacturing support expertise to enable on-time, lowest cost hardware delivery with performance and reliability that exceed customer expectations. They design, control, and improve the manufacturing process and system design through a collaborative effort with the Integrated Product Team. They apply their skills to implement improvements that reduce cycle time and cost and improve productivity, while maintaining a high level of safety in the manufacturing environment and quality within the product.
Responsibilities
- Support a manufacturing area as part of a cross-functional team by guiding the production team through process troubleshooting and incorporation of engineering changes.
- Identify opportunities and implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling design, production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, and product designs.
- Work as part of a cohesive team with test engineering, product engineering, system engineering, program management and Operations.
- Communicate effectively within and outside of own team to explain facts, policies, and practices of the work area.
- Lead corrective action investigations to prevent recurrence.
- Adhere to all EHS practices and standards across the site, including but not limited to proactive reporting of observed hazards and recommendations to ensure the safety and well-being of self and others.
Job Requirements
Qualifications you must have:
- Bachelor’s degree and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships)
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access the financial management system due to government contractual requirements
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) access.
Qualifications we prefer:
- Experience with CAD solid modeling tools (preference for Solid Works) and/or simulation tools.
- Experience with designing, programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated tooling and machinery.
- Experience with military and industry standards.
- Experience in Explosives and/or Energetics.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Problem-Solving Methodologies.
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
