CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a n Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer to join our Power & Manufacturing - Environmental Team at our office in Colonie, NY.
Responsibilities
Working closely with professional engineers, the Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer assists in the design development, implementation, and technical analysis of various systems to implement new products, or changes to an existing scheme, to suit individual client needs. At CHA, our Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer works on multiple projects in a timely and cost-effective manner to meet client, contractual and company requirements.
The Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer performs field assignments for various geotechnical projects, gathers and documents subsurface data, observes construction and prepares field reports, and aids in preparing geotechnical engineering reports, contract documents and cost estimates for various tasks. The professional in this role performs simple calculations and engineering design using the standards established by federal, state, and local regulations, as well as the company, group, client, etc. The Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer solve routine problems by applying defined procedures.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field required
- EIT certification preferred
- No prior experience required; however, prior internship(s) and/or applicable coursework preferred
- Demonstrates a strong willingness to learn about the respective engineering discipline
- Has a strong theoretical knowledge in the respective engineering field
- Familiarity with geotechnical engineering, computational, and modeling software preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software required
- Desire to work in a collaborative team environment with the willingness to assist mid and senior level engineering and project management staff
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, stand for long periods of time, and walk on rough terrain
- Willingness and ability to travel
