GHD is seeking an Entry Level Engineer/Scientist to work with our EHS Compliance team on providing environmental consulting services to various clients across the Midwest. Responsibilities

  • Complete and/or support technical projects related to environmental due diligence and environmental compliance, including but not limited to:
  • Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
  • Permit application development (e.g., air emissions, storm water discharges, wastewater discharges, etc.)
  • Environmental plan development and updates, such as Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), and Hazardous Waste Contingency Plans (HWCPs)
  • Environmental compliance reporting, such as air emissions reporting, hazardous waste generator reporting, and Emergency Planning Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) reporting (i.e., Tier II and Form R)
  • Conduct facility and site visits to gather information for written project work
  • Write technical reports and support development of client proposals
  • Work with various industrial clients
  • Comprehend and interpret regulations and guidelines
  • Develop working relationships and communicate effectively with supervisor, project directors, project managers, project team members, clients, and regulators

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university
  • 0 to 2+ years of experience
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • Some knowledge of environmental regulations affecting industry (Preferred, but not required)
  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification is a plus
  • Proficiency with MS applications
  • Ability to perform field work and travel overnight
  • Self-motivated, organized, and hard-working
  • Strong written and technical writing skills
  • Ability to excel in a multidisciplinary team environment as well as independently
  • Commitment to safety through a behavior-based safety (BBS) culture in all aspects of the job
