Early Career Bridge Engineer

WSP is has an exciting opportunity for a motivated entry-level Bridge engineer to join our Transportation Group located in Raleigh, NC, and work on the anticipated final design on the Asheville I-26 Design-Build project. Responsibilities

  • Entry-Level position to perform engineering analysis and design of transportation structures such as bridges and retaining walls. The position requires knowledge and application of basic engineering principles under close supervision; work is reviewed for adequacy and accuracy.
  • Typical duties may include assisting with the analysis and design calculations for structures; developing design plans, specifications, and quantities for bridge replacement projects; reviewing submittals and shop drawings; and utilizing OpenBridge software for CADD tasks.
  • Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to apply technical knowledge.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • Engineer in Training Certification or Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.
  • 0 – 1 years of experience in civil or structural engineering.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, producing quality work products, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet deliverables as well as learn new techniques, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the Unites States immediately.

Preferred Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will have previous internship experience in Structural Engineering.
  • Familiarity with discipline-specific software (i.e., OpenBridge, MicroStation, STADD).
  • A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
