We currently have an opening for an associate Oracle database Engineer. The ideal candidate will have excellent academic background and be able to apply the knowledge learned in engineering schools to solve problems and suggest innovative solutions. After the initial period, the candidate will work side by side with the upper-level controls commissioning team learning the intricacies of the system. The candidate will be responsible for proper day to day operation of the upper-level control system. The position locality is at the IAH airport in Houston Texas and will be the point of contact for the global support team headquartered in Dallas and Germany.

This will be the initial assignment, once the support for the IAH project is over, the candidate will learn the rest of the company product offerings. Initially will work side by side with other Siemens engineers in order to learn all the intricacies of the position. Ultimately, will be supporting various other customers, directly or while being part of a team of engineers.

Most of the support can be done remotely but traveling (nationally) is expected for this position. Must be willing to relocate if required, as this position necessitates on-site presence.

Responsibilities

Working in a Matrix organization and reporting to the Engineering Manager and under the direction of the Airport Baggage Handling Operations Manager, the candidate will be required to participate in

testing and commissioning of the automated Early Bag System. This includes configuring and

troubleshooting the windows servers, web logic servers, Oracle database, basic network.  Should be able to utilize the Oracle database technologies and JAVA/J2EE to troubleshoot the application. The candidate after the initial training period, will be the point of reference for every BHS upper-level system for the Early Bag System at IAH, and will need to be capable of interface with the local stake holders, plan and prioritize the interventions, research issues and possible solution, reach out to offsite support team for additional support.

Job Requirements

• Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or a related discipline with a GPA greater than 3.3.

• One year of experience (or a new graduate) in designing and developing SQL & PL/SQL scripts, Oracle database architecture, and data modeling. Fresh graduates must have used database skills in their final year or academic projects, especially with Oracle. NO other database experience or usage is considered.

• Oracle certifications, such as the Oracle Database Administrator Certified Associate (OCA), are a plus.

• Only U.S. Citizens or legal residents.

• Travel approximately 30% of the time. When required, work odd shifts.

• Deep understanding of Oracle database architecture, data modeling, and administration.

• Deep understanding of Object-Oriented Programming.

• Hands-on experience with a relational database query language, such as Oracle PL/SQL.

• Retrieving the health status of an Oracle Database and performance tuning of database and objects.

• Installing and configuring Oracle Database12c by following instructions.

• Administration of an Oracle database, including creating tables, etc.

• Troubleshooting network and system-related issues.

• Strong written and oral communication skills.

• Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
